fourth flight--video;

[Okay. Kon takes a deep breath, then turns on his camera and smiles.]

Uh, hey everyone. It's me, Superboy. [Obviously.]

So, the thing with Rex. That was... that was pretty bad. And I helped with stopping him, cause I'm a superhero. And that's what I do back home. The bad guys do something evil, with mind control or a death ray or something else just as bad, and me and my friends save the day.

[His face gets a little more serious.]

Of course it doesn't go smoothly all the time. People die. Good people. Heck, I died. Luckily, the staying-dead rate isn't as high as it should be, but still. Not everyone comes back. And every time, it hurts.

It hurts even when it's not a friend or a loved one. Even when it's one of the villains. Even when they do come back. Even when you know they will. Losing people? Hurts. And no matter who it is, they've got someone who'll miss them.

[He stops for dramatic effect, then looks straight into the camera.]

That's why we don't kill. It's not our job. We save the world, we hand criminals to the cops, we've even been known to testify in court, but we don't kill. And we shouldn't here either. I'm talking to the Wardens and Inmates alike. Killing? Wrong. Always. Full stop.

And yeah, I get that there's not always a choice. I get that sometimes it's more complicated than that. Sometimes, good people have to do bad things.

But if there's any other way, even here, where death isn't permanent?

You take it.

That's all.

[Locked to Tim]

[Kon drops the happy look because hey, talking to friend, and agh, this is stressful.]

Oh my god, your dad is scary. Obviously. He asked me to do what Superman does. Me. You know, in the being an example or inspiration or whatever to everyone. I don't know if I can.

...Clark would have done the whole "Don't kill" speech better.
peektuttut: (T; Uh-huh. No I'm listening honest.)

[Oh dear God. It's a while before he answers because lol his morals have gone gray and he doesn't want to tell Conner about it yet. :c]

I don't know, I think you pulled it off pretty well. Be prepared for the typical people trying to mock you for it, but that's par for the course, here.

You can do whatever you want, you know. [As in, he can be an inspiration, and/or he doesn't have to listen to Bruce on this.]

[...Kon will not approve, dude. Not at all.]

Hey, I can take some mocking. I've got a sense of humor and all of that.

You really think I pulled it off?

[He sighs and looks down.]

Man, I don't know. But like, Superman has always been my goal in life, and... what he does is important.

And Batman is really, really convincing. He kept talking about how he didn't want Clark Kent, he wanted me or something. I guess I'm trying it?

[identity profile] feverprophecy.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
What poise. What authority.

How old are you again? Three? Not, of course, that that has any bearing on the matter. I'm just impressed you scraped it together!

It takes balls, you know. To have less life experience than a toddler, yet still lecture a community of thinking individuals about what's right and wrong, according to your moral system. I'm so glad you shared, Superboy.

It was a good laugh.

[Preeeecisely. :c]

Yeah. You said what you wanted to say, dramatic pauses and all. [There's a bit of a smile there, at least.]

Conner, of course he's convincing. He's talked criminals into walking into the station and turning themselves in. [And a shrug.] There's no harm in trying it. Call it practice.

Well said. There some kind of inspirational speech bug going around or something?

[identity profile] ihavettk.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you really gonna question my experience? I have literally been a superhero all my life.

And, you know, there's the thing where I'm not insane.

Uh. Bruce told me to.

Yeah. Good.

Hey, wanna hang out or something?

Something about there needing to be a Superman. In the metaphorical inspirational sense, not the wearing a cape sense. I hope.
batmanschmatman: (You're kidding.)

... Is he planning some kind of Barge Justice League or something?

...I have no idea. Do you think so? I mean, shouldn't I clock in a few more years on the Titans first? Or graduate high school?
batmanschmatman: (Shrug.)

I'm more wondering how the hell that would actually work on the Barge. When anyone tries to do anything resembling structure and people throw temper tantrums, I'm not sure an actual League would be particularly well recepted.

Yeah. All three years of it. And you've known nothing else, isn't that right? That surely doesn't make you incredibly limited or biased in any way.

As you yourself said, sometimes good people have to do bad things. Killing people doesn't make a person crazy. The Joker is crazy. Me? I'm just a guy with strong principles.

I dunno. People don't usually complain much at home? But we've got Leagues of Supervillains, too, so they probably figure it balances out.
batmanschmatman: (I liked being a cop dammit.)

The Barge isn't home, Conner.

Ffft. Comic book ages. /estimates

[identity profile] ihavettk.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, first? Not three. I'm 19. And yeah, I was 15 when I was born, but that wasn't four years ago. I was stuck at 16 for a few years. I've traveled in time, spending a few years in the future, and I died for a while. And yeah, I am biased. But in a good way. In the protecting truth and justice way. And, again, my age does not make me wrong.

I didn't say you're crazy cause you killed people. You're just plain crazy.

I will say your principles are not strong. And that part is because you kill people.

My point being, haven't you noticed people's reactions when anyone tries to organize anything? I'm not saying it's impossible, but I seriously doubt it's going to have the same backing as the JLA back home.

Apparently Bruce thinks he is. Or you are.

I think you could do it if you really wanted it. Either of you.

I... really don't know. I mean, I could see me starting up a Titans branch here or something. But the Justice League? That's a little out of my, well, league.

HAHA oh DC.

[identity profile] feverprophecy.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Dying doesn't mean shit. Anyone can die. It takes no effort and bestows no wisdom. And no biases are "good." Your age doesn't make you wrong, but I never said that — my point was that it necessarily limits the amount of life experience you've had.

Why, what crazy things have I done, Conner? Since you're such an expert.

No, my principles are simply different from yours. But I wouldn't really expect you to understand that "different" doesn't mean "bad," that seems a little advanced for you.
