but i've been on earth for [ hang on ] rao, seven or eight years now, depending on how you count it. so i've had plenty of time to try all kinds of earth food.

[He can. Super hearing is fun. Though he's not totally sure if it's her or someone else coincidentally laughing at the same time. He's still got some fine tuning to do.]

[Yes and no. He has it, but he's not very good at focusing it yet. Luckily, it's the middle of the night and few enough people are talking that he can hear her, though it's weird and staticky through the sound of snores.]

[He considers telling her that texting is easier--which it is--but this is good practice. He focuses on where he heard her voice, trying to tune out all the other noise of the sleeping Mansion.]

[If she uses x-ray vision right now, she'll see exactly how much he's rolling his eyes. Kal. Helpful. Yeah, like that ever happens.]

[ she scoffs quietly, rolling her eyes, and mutters something like of course he did. dammit, kal... under her breath. ]

[Family. Such a weird concept. Probably it shouldn't be, but he's had a weird life. Besides his friends be them Titans or Young Justice, there haven't been that many people who he considered family. Being related by blood certainly has never qualified someone.

[He shrugs before realizing that unless she's using x-ray vision, she won't see it.]

[Better compared to Kal than to Lex.]

[ she pulls a face and makes a displeased noise. ]

It's not right. We're related to him, but we're not him. People should judge us on our own merits and not their idealized version of Kal.

[ ... she's not a little bitter about this at all. ]

[Easy for her to say. She wasn't literally made to replace him. No one judges Kon based off an idealized version of Kal like Kon does.]
