Kon thought nasty thoughts towards Tim and smiled sweetly at him. "Well, Bernard tells me you're pretty interested in Robin. If you had any questions about him, I could answer 'em."

Oh, you absolute bastard, Tim thought to Kon, keeping his smile pasted onto his face. "My interest was in the first two--the ones who were Robin when I was a kid," he replied. "The current one seems kind of... I don't know." He shrugged. "Just not as interesting."

Bernard idly watched as Tim and Kon talked, playing with the seam of Kon's tights.

"He isn't," Kon agreed, still smiling cordially. "He's very boring. No fun at all. Sure, he can hold his own in a fight, but in a conversation? Totally lame." He put an arm over Bernard. "Don't get me wrong, the guy's one of my best friends, but he's a total freak."

"Thought so," Tim replied with a nod. "Oh, well. Good thing he's got friends like you, then, huh? What have you been doing since you got back?"

Bernard glanced from Tim to Kon and back again, arching an eyebrow. "Boys," he warned. "You two have to at least pretend to be friends to impress me."

"We're friends!" Kon said. "I mean, I've only known him for like an hour, but he seems plenty cool." He turned back to Tim. "I've mostly been chilling in Hawaii. Catching up with old friends, et cetera. You know how it is."

"Having never been almost dead..." Tim said, smirking a little. "No--I do understand, kind of. I went on a trip with Bruce for a year. When I got back there was a lot of catching up and stuff to do." He tossed a quick grin at Bernard. "And he's right--we're definitely friends."

Bernard shook his head, nudging Kon in the ribs. "You'd better be," he warned.

Kon put up his hands. "Seriously! Next to Bart, he's already my best friend!" he said. "Tim, you seem like a great guy."

Tim grinned, barely holding in laughter as he regarded Kon. "It's mutual, I'm sure."

Bernard glared, crossing his arms. "For some reason, I feel like I'm being played..." he admitted suspiciously.

Kon looked at him and smiled. "What do you mean?" he asked.

Tim gave him an amused smile. "You have a very suspicious nature, Bernard. In what way could we possibly be playing you--we've only just met."

Bernard shrugged, adjusting Kon's arm around his shoulders. "I have no idea," he said. "But I still think you two know something you're not telling me."

"What could that possibly be?" Kon asked. "That Tim's Wonder Girl?"

Tim struck a pose. "Obviously."

"Oh, har har," he said, pulling the tab off his Zesti and chucking it in Tim's direction. "One of these days I'm gonna figure you out. Then you'll be sorry!"

Kon laughed. "Psh, I've known him for all of an hour and I can already tell there's not much to figure out. Though that could just be relative to my friends."

Tim shrugged. "I'm no Robin, but I'd like to think I've got hidden depths."

Bernard rolled his eyes. "No wonder I'm friends with you both," he said. "You're crazy."

"I like to think we're a bit more than friends," Kon said, telekinetically goosing Bernard again. "And you are nowhere near as mysterious as Robin. I mean, considering I've only known you an hour and already I've seen your face." He smirked at Tim.

Tim opened his mouth to argue--again--that that had never been his choice, but then closed it. That wasn't an argument they could have here. Instead, he smiled a little, and looked curiously at Kon. "He didn't let you see his face? Like--ever?"

Bernard clamped his hand down hard on Kon's thigh, turning slowly to glare at him. "Hey," he said, arching and eyebrow. "Stop that."

Kon grinned. "Sorry," he said, not sounding very sorry at all.

"Robin? Yeah, eventually he did. Lost a bet over it," Kon said. "Long story."
